Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction is actively seeking a skilled and experienced Excavator Operator (Underground Wet Utilities) to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance, contributing directly to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of their operations.
Resposibilities
- Demonstrates proficiency in operating three or more types of heavy equipment—including backhoes, excavators, scrapers, dozers, loaders, rock trucks, compactors, articulated trucks, crushers, and motor graders—with or without GPS, to prepare job sites according to required specifications and grades.
- Attaches equipment accessories to tractors using clevis or wedge pin hitches, and connects hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkages, or PTO shafts to power various attachments.
- Operates control levers and foot pedals to maneuver attachments, tool bars, carriers, and disks; and utilizes hydraulic shovels to dig trenches or holes to specific dimensions, remove debris, and load materials into trucks.
- Clears right-of-way by manipulating equipment to raise, lower, and tilt attachments, and uses sensory feedback and engine response to judge depth of cut. Drives bulldozers across terrain in multiple passes to achieve the specified grade, guided by grade stakes or hand signals.
